Claude Micallef Grimaud

Claude Micallef Grimaud is a Senior Associate at Mamo TCV Advocates having first joined the firm in June 2008. His main area of practice includes advising and acting as counsel for foreign and local clients in all intellectual property matters (particularly Copyright cases, Anti-Counterfeiting actions and Trademark issues) including litigation, contract negotiation and drafting, registration procedures and licensing/franchising matters.

Claude also acts as lead counsel in all matters relating to privacy and data protection and represents numerous international (and local) entities in such matters.

Claude’s other specialist areas include all matters relating to Media law, Information Technology law, EU law, Contract law and Tort law the latter being a subject he also lectures at the University of Malta. Claude has published a number of academic articles both locally as well as abroad. Claude is also an examiner and supervisor of Doctor of Laws theses and Research Projects at the University of Malta.

Claude also acts as counsel for clients in general civil and commercial matters.

On 25 May 2018, Regulation 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect across the European Union (including Malta). On 8 June 2017, the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party ("WP29") adopted Opinion 2/2017 on data processing at work ("the Opinion") ​ . This authoritative document complements previous WP29 publications on similar issues ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​.
