Nicholas Micallef is a senior associate in the Investment Services department of the firm. He graduated from the University of Malta with a Doctor of Laws in 2010 following the submission of his doctoral thesis entitled ‘Closed-end funds as a vehicle for collective investment schemes in Malta. A critical evaluation’. Nicholas joined law firm GVTH Advocates as a trainee in 2004, before joining Simon Tortell and Associates as a trainee in 2008.
Nicholas was called to the Bar in January, 2011 following his appointment as an associate with Simon Tortell and Associates in 2010. Nicholas’ main areas of practice include the licensing of Collective Investments Schemes (UCITS, PIFs and AIFs) and Investment Services Providers, as well as compliance, governance, restructuring and winding-up of such entities.
