On the 12th of June 2023, an Act to amend the Gaming Act (Chapter 583 of the Laws of Malta) was passed by the House of Representatives, which introduced article 56A to the Gaming Act in order to encourage the establishment of gaming operators in Malta who offer local and cross-border supply of services.

The MFSA published a Circular on the 21st of June 2023 by way of an update on the European Supervisory Authorities’ Joint Committee Public Consultation on the First Set of Technical Standards under Regulation (EU) 2022/2554 on Digital Operational Resilience for the Financial Sector. The MFSA invited stakeholders to provide feedback on the first set of Technical Standards by the 11th of September 2023 via the links inserted within the Circular.
Additionally, on the 28th of June 2023, the European Commission issued revised rules on payment services to improve consumer protection and competition in electronic payments in light of the Payment Services Directive adopted in 2015.
